Overview

The DS18 Hooligan X15 has been proven to provide top end performance and bass now for 6 years on the streets and in the lanes, hooligans have been a choice of music lovers and competitors alike.

We have taken the Traditional Hooligan and revamped it in our new revision, the Hooligan X15 Sound Pressure Level. This model features heavy duty pole, SPL spider, and high strength surround to reinforce sound pressure level of the speaker making it louder at competition frequencies. This massive sub will be great for high powered music or SPL. A FS of 38 will ensure great bass down to 28Hz and great punchy bass up around 65Hz depending on your box tuning. This subwoofer is rated at 4000w RMS and 6000w Max so your vehicle will require electrical upgrades and large wire.

Key Features

  • High powered 4" Aluminum voice coil handling 4000w RMS and 6000w Max power for heavy hitting competition bass.
  • We have added a large SPL surround to help with the high SPL of this subwoofer.
  • We have also added a stronger spider that helps reinforce your frequency so this sub plays more efficiently at a louder level than previous versions.
  • 4 inch black aluminum voice coil handling a massive 4000w RMS and 6000w Peak will be sure to get this subwoofer moving with hurricane wind forces.
  • The DS18 Tooled Red basket is one of the slickest and best looking baskets on the market. Not only extremely strong but looks great so you can use plexiglass or mount inverted on your box to see the show quality frame and motor topped off by a carbon fiber dust cap.
  • Huge 500 oz magnet will help the voice coil receive and handle the massive power this sub requires with high efficiency and durability.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

RMS vs. MAX power — which number do I actually care about?

RMS is what your gear handles continuously; MAX is the short burst it can survive without complaint. Match your amplifier's RMS output to your speakers' RMS rating — sizing off the MAX number is how magic smoke gets released.

What does the IP65 rating on DS18 marine gear actually mean?

It's dust-tight and rated against low-pressure water jets from any direction — built for spray, rain, and the occasional wave over the bow, not for full submersion. If something's going somewhere it could sit underwater, that's a different conversation entirely.

How do I match an amplifier to my speakers without guessing?

Add up the RMS rating of everything the amp will power, and pick an amp whose RMS output (at your speakers' impedance — usually 4-ohm) lands close to that total. Undersized is thin sound; wildly oversized is a fast way to blow a voice coil.

Can I mix marine-grade gear into a standard car audio setup, or the reverse?

You can run marine-grade gear in a car — it's just over-built for that environment, no downside besides cost. Running non-weatherproof car audio gear in an open UTV or boat is the direction that causes problems.

What gauge wiring kit do I need?

It scales with your amp's power draw and the length of the run — DS18's OFC kits come in 4-gauge and 8-gauge for a reason. Undersized wiring on a high-draw system is a voltage-drop and heat problem waiting to happen; when in doubt, size up.
